Conceptual Design for Athar Exhibition Courtyard
Design Brief
Create one conceptual architectural visualization of the Athar exhibition courtyard in Old Dubai, using an analytical, diagrammatic architectural presentation approach suitable for a design presentation slide. Preserve the existing traditional Emirati home-style courtyard structure and surrounding heritage architecture; do not modernize or alter the building envelope. Visualize a clear visitor journey from past to present within the same courtyard: near the entrance, intimate semi-private enclosed exhibition zones inspired by traditional Emirati homes, with layered fabric screens, woven textures, shaded thresholds, and low one- to two-storey forms; toward the center and deeper into the courtyard, spaces become increasingly public, open, transparent, and spatially expansive, with taller abstracted forms representing the present. Place the Majlis at the heart as the central gathering space expressing continuity between past, present, and future. Include a clearly visible upper-floor room or balcony/terrace facing the courtyard as the future zone, using an abstract lightweight architectural language compatible with the heritage surroundings. Explore an evolution of form, function, materials, textures, fabrics, shapes, light, and shadow, with a strong design-thinking narrative and legible visitor sequence. Contextual contemporary architecture rooted in traditional Emirati design, coherent neutral incidental details, high-quality architectural visualization. Negative constraints: Photorealistic generic courtyard, altered or demolished heritage building envelope, unrelated modern architecture, excessive ornament, illegible spatial sequence, people as focal subjects, text, labels, captions, logos, watermark, overlays, diagrams or infographics, split-screen, multi-panel layout, comparison board, incorrect perspective, distortion, CGI-like artifacts, low resolution.
